my sincerest condolences to Eric and his family

In loving memory of Portia Cheung

Portia, wife of our dear brother Cheung Tat Ming, Eric, passed away peacefully on 23rd February 2007. Though she is sadly missed by her family and friends, we trust that she is now resting in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father. She would always be remembered by her loved ones and her friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on 10th March 2007 (Saturday) at 8:00 p.m. at Grace Hong Kong Evangelical Church (香港宣教會恩磐堂), at No. 7 Tong Yam Street, Shek Kip Mei. We attach a letter written by Eric and a map about the location of the Church. You may attend the service.

Please remember Eric and his two children in your prayer.

free wifi access in the city, finally!

from 二ＯＯ七至Ｏ八年度政府財政預算案:

為了方便市民使用互聯網，我們會在未來兩年預留2億1,000萬元，在全港各區的政府場地提供WiFi無線上網設施，免費供市民使用。我們計劃於一年內優先在所有公共圖書館、主要的文娛康樂中心、社區會堂、大型公園，以及市民常到的政府辦事處，裝設無線上網設施。

美國有「Wi-Fi-FreeSpot」, 台灣有「QON 台灣無線上網地點搜尋」, 星加坡政府有「Wireless@SG」計劃, 看來香港真的要大力 catch up.

a joe goal life

life's been pretty 糟糕 lately. i easily feel tired and have lost the motivation to complete whatever's at hand, except of course the watching of cheesy korean dramas and the browsing of blogs. there's an inherent rebellion in me telling me to 蹉跎歲月 as if it's something perfectly okay to do during my last days as a student.

on a related note, i've been wondering a lot about what failure really means to me, and whether it is still a failure if i disappoint everyone else but myself. even my dreams have a recurring theme of failure and disappointent.

"but how do you know if you're ready for this? to work in an office environment as soon as you graduate, and be contented about it?"

nodded too early, maybe.

but meanwhile, i'll just have to accept life as it is and get my 糟糕 life back on track. "Joe's Goals" (http://www.joesgoals.com) is the perfect online app for this, despite the chinese pronunciation of its name =p

雖然聲稱要 "小心平衡各方不同的權益"，但諮詢文件裡只得有一個有關 caching 的部份提及合理使用的原則，我們的政府真係眼光闊到無人有。

且看 "在數碼環境中保護知識產權" 的官方諮詢文件:

第一章　未獲授權而上載和下載版權作品的法律責任
第二章　為透過各種傳送科技向公眾發放的版權作品提供保護
第三章　互聯網服務供應商在打擊網上盜版問題上扮演的角色
第四章　協助版權擁有人對網上的侵犯版權行為提出民事訴訟
第五章　侵犯版權的法定損害賠償
第六章　為暫時複製版權作品提供版權豁免

然後比較一下人家的 vision:

再聯想到近日叮噹網站被勒令關門的故事和IFPI派員24小時監察全港網誌的搞笑行為，不禁要借用 techdirt 的一句：

浪漫不浪漫

一睇下面 dee 相就知，我尋日過左一個好鬼難忘 geh 情人節啦。呢度叫 Natalie's Place, 離港大五分鐘路程，價錢合理 ($40 only, 可以話低到唔合理)，包埋朱古力同蛋糕，周圍都係充滿情調 geh 陳設品，問你死未。

難忘的又豈止於此。回家時，看見街上的人昨天都手拖著手，有些拿著玫瑰，有些攬住巨型珍寶珠公仔，感覺有點奇怪，心想明明不是單身的我參加 "valentine's day party" 究竟是怎麼了？(如果你未發現，i'm referring to the 燭光晚餐 above。) 整天傻呼呼的，還要不斷被稱為大話妹真係無陰功，第二日仲要交 research 的東東，又要寫乜鬼 profile 之類，家陣又唔知醒，返唔切原本個堂 SG，還膽敢懶懶閒打 blog entry，都唔知自己受左乜野刺激。
