CZECH [3]: telč, a dreamland of some sort

28th July, 2007 - 2:33 am - posted in cultural, travel

(all you need to do is to email them and say you're coming
and they'll trust that you'll appear
連 deposit 都 不 用 俾!)

當 一 切 都 是 1-2min walking distance
當 雪 糕 只 是 HK$2 一 個 scoop
當 嘆 一 杯 可 樂 可 以 嘆 到 天 黑

你 就 知 道 我 是 多 麼 的 不 願 意 離 開 了

CZECH [2]: cesky krumlov

23rd July, 2007 - 11:40 pm - posted in cultural, travel

three hours away from prague is the heart of cesky krumlov - the place i've dreamed of coming ever since march this year!!! it's a mesmerizing experience in itself just to walk around the tiny little town....the colourful houses, the river, the cartonic expressions of figures on every fresco, the lack of crowds, the little bridges, the curvy streets, and extremely cheap yet tasty food!! we even did a bit of canoeing at the river bend before we left!

left: sweet bread, dunno its name
right: old bohemian feast at the river bank, with ducks and canoes passing by... a cat even jumped onto our table and asked for a slice!

left: view of houses from castle top
right: funny curlies on every roof, baroque style

left: shadow of a lamp on a castle wall
middle: 彩塔 - symbol of CK
right: Guesthouse Olsakovsky - where we stayed in!! it's built in 1620 and one of its walls was part of the original castle wall. the attic that we lived in is beautifully ornated (more photos later when i get back to hong kong). the owner of the house is also a nice lady as you can see here (and much prettier in real person)! she made us breakfast every morning with brownies and cookies and it's SO good hahhaha (again, pics later)

and well, this blog post won't be complete without a photo of...

myself, inside the 彩塔 :D

last day in sydney!

Miss Lai was absolutely tired .... and she just slept in, hahahahaha!! Must be due to the packed schedule in the past days! My parents arrived at our place early at 7:30am and they were so kind to have stayed at the airport for an hour or so! We had breakfast at McDonald's while Audrey and Miss Lai continued to sleep. I had a busy morning running around for photo frames and ribbons in the City and then headed to Greenway for the BBQ lunch to spread gospel to the residents there.

I left half-way through the lunch and met up with Miss Lai at the Rocks to the marketplace for shopping. Our first stop was at Ken Duncan, I bought 2 postcards so I can frame it later on when I get back to HK. As for Miss Lai, she bought a set of coasters of the Australian landscape. We then went to the Mandela gallery to look at his works .... very thoughtful indeed because he used his handwriting to accompany his drawing and photos taken of prisons. I really like the way he portraits the essence of freedom! We also went to the Ken Done gallery which is next door .... his child-like paintings is so attractive and the vibrant lines are enticing!! It made me bought this piece of tea towel with tiger prawns on them ... will use it to wrap my camera! The last place we strolled around was the main market! Finally, I got this wonderful pair of earrings from Miss Lai by Hamish Sevensacks as a gift of my hospitality, yay!!!!! I also bought a pair of platypus earrings, my favourite Australian native animal!

1st July is also my last church service in Sydney .... Pete invited me for a short interview about what I have learnt and experienced at this church and what brothers & sisters can pray for me when I am in HK. I said I will really miss the fellowship and supportive prayers here ... most of all the presence of warmth in church every sunday. I ended the interview with an extract of a poem written by Anne Bronte - Farewell.

The sermon was about how God's blessing is free to all, how it is no longer exclusive to Jews, non-Jews are also under His blessings ... the service seemed really short to me despite it is the normal length, perhaps that is induced by the feeling of departure. We also had church dinner, sat next to Sean, Eva, Letitia, Vivian .... and then Miss Lai left for the airport!
