next to launch: creative commons in HK!

after a barcamp, two flickr parties and the firefox 3 celebration, the next big thing would be the launch of creative commons in hong kong! on 25th October 2008, creative commons founder Larry Lessig (yay!!!) and chairman of the board Joi Ito will help us launch the creative commons hong kong license and celebrate the founding of the CC-HK organization =) =)

what is CC? if you're still wondering, or if your friends have no clue whatsoever, watch/send them this video!  (this is the Cantonese version; the original English version is available here)

and while i'm at it, i should also mention this - ImageStamper: CC license witness service.  as some of you may know, a major criticism of cc has been the lack of an independant system for proving the licences.  those who share this worry will love this free stamping service - it's useful for keeping proof that you obtained flickr images under a given CC licence, even if the images are later deleted from Flickr or their licenses change!

    ImageStamper is also useful for proving the license on your own image at publication.

    ben: yes, i wonder if there are similar services e.g. for music? like how do i prove that a song i downloaded from a podsafe website was podsafe at the time of download?

    alexei: to benefit more cc users, you should tell the CC headquarters about ImageStamper and let them link to it from the CC homepage!
